The Teaching Profession
"What would you like to be when you grow up?" Abdi had asked. "Definitely not a teacher, maybe a lawyer, doctor or a pharmacist," I had answered honestly.
"What if you become a teacher like Mr. Kassim?" He persisted. He was a tireless teacher and nice story teller. We had nicknamed him "Mr. Energizer."
Looking back I wonder at life's surprises. I am now a teacher who is strict in discipline. I have come to realize that teaching is a very noble career as teachers have the responsibility of instructing students right from nursery school to the university.
Teachers observe ethics even when students become unruly. Theirs is a profession that is noble as they are the role models to the students they teach.

2. What is ironic about the writer's profession?
